2.4 Read James 2:5‐7; 1:9‐11; 5:1‐6. Do you think James is prejudiced against the rich? Why does he come back to this theme several times, do you think? 2.5 (2:5; 1:9) Why does James remind the poor of their own position? 2.6 (2:9) How does favoritism break the Mosaic law? THE INFANCY GOSPEL OF JAMES The following translation is based on the Greek text printed in Ronald F. Hock's The Infancy Gospels of James and Thomas. The text, which provided the basis for the Jesus Seminar's 'Scholars Version' translation of the Infancy Gospel of James, has been divided. James also played an important role in the conference at Jerusalem (Ac 15:13-33), and Paul brought him greetings upon arriving at Jerusalem (Ac 21:18-19). 'James, the Lord's brother' (Ga 1:19) is most likely the author of this epistle. Tradition describes James as a man of prayer, which may explain the emphasis on prayer in his letter.
